PTA Meeting Minutes - November 12, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 3:15 pm with 7 members and 5 staff
present.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Nancy said that items are coming in slowly for the dinner. Nancy and
Alice will go over what has come in and see what items are still
needed.
The only local stores who have responded to our requests for
donations are Sam’s Club and Walmart in Keene at $25 each.
Marcia, Shirley Plumb, Leah and Kelly will cook turkeys over the
weekend. They will be delivered to the school on Friday to take home
and cook. They should be carved before being returned to the school.
The invitations have gone out to various town employees.
Students will serve as greeters when people arrive, call up tables
to get food, and clear tables. Mrs. Peterson will announce the
changes at 11:30 am, then the students in K-2 will sing a song
before tables are called up to get food. There will also be a
six-minute slide show combining student art and recordings of what
they are thankful for.
The tablecloths will not be decorated, but centerpieces have been
made.
Instead of having a dessert table this year, desserts will be
delivered to the tables on trays by PTA volunteers
Kitchen and set up volunteers should arrive at 10:00 am.
Marcia will ask Bonnie for leftover boxes to pack up food after the
dinner for local people in need.
Fundraising
Nancy said that a notice has gone home reminding families that the
fundraiser is coming to a close. She will leave the fundraiser open
until Monday to make sure we get all the order forms. Nancy will
organize the master form. The items should be delivered in time for
Christmas.
Winter Craft Fair
The craft fair will be Friday, December 12, with a snow day of
Monday, December 15. It will be during school in the afternoon.
Details will be discussed at the next meeting.
Other Business
Tracking Program
Marcia said that biologist and tracking expert, Susan Morse is
coming to Marlow to do an adult talk on March 4, 2009. The Marlow
Conservation Commission has put this together. It would cost $250
extra for her to come to the school earlier in the day. Marcia said
she would make a quilt to raise money towards bringing Ms. Morse to
the school.
