PTA Meeting Minutes - April 30,
2007
The meeting was called to order at
3:10 pm with 6 members and 2 staff present.
Treasurer’s
Report:
The treasurer’s report was
presented, but some revisions will be needed. It will be presented again
next month.
School
T-Shirts:
Nancy said the t-shirt order forms
went home with students today. T-shirts can be ordered through May 16.
R.J. Sports will be making the shirts. They said they could do an order
in about two weeks, so hopefully the t-shirts will be delivered by the
end of May. Adult sizes are also available.
Atlases:
Marcia was not able to attend
today’s meeting so Nancy will follow up with her regarding the atlases
for the graduating 6th grade students.
School
Yard Clean Up:
The date for this has been set for
the next regular PTA meeting on June 4, 2007. Nancy said that $99.00 has
come in from the Hannaford’s fundraiser in the fall. This is to be
used for the playground fund. She also mentioned that the school board
agreed to pay up to $125 in matching funds towards the purchase of
mulch. Nancy learned that Elliott’s sells mulch for $25 a yard. She
thinks we will need 10 yards. She will try to see if it can be
delivered. Nancy will send out an announcement to invite students and
parents to help out.
School
Sign:
Nancy mentioned that the paint on
the sign is already starting to peel, which is very frustrating since
she was assured it would not happen. The letter trays are also bowing
which causes the letters to tip. Discussion followed on how long ago the
sign was installed. Stephanie will check back through the minutes to
find out and let Nancy know. Nancy will then call the sign maker.
Field
Day:
Nancy has been trying to connect
with the PE teacher about this since she has not organized it before.
The date is set for Thursday, June 14.
Swing
Set:
This still has not been purchased
due to the location and ground cover issues. $497.23 was raised for the
swing set in the fall fundraiser. Nancy suggested that that money be
moved from the capital reserve fund into the playground fund, which
currently has $857.21. It was unanimously approved to move the $497.23
to the playground fund.
Hero
Art Program:
Donna brought in a DVD showing the
Hero Art program. The artist presents an energetic program and completes
a lot one hour. It is very emotional to watch and he is great with the
kids. The cost will be $1100 next year. Donna offered to contact various
Marlow groups to see if they would contribute toward this program. Mrs.
Peterson mentioned there might be artist in residence money in the
school budget that could apply to this. Nancy asked if this program
would replace the separate enrichment programs we have done in the past.
Mrs. Peterson suggested inviting Nelson and Stoddard. She will check on
room capacity and Donna will check to see how much space he needs for
his setup. Nancy will forward the DVD to the Nelson and Stoddard PTAs to
see if they are interested. The earlier we book the program the better,
so it was suggested we do a fundraiser early in the fall and then book a
date for the spring.
Pizzaria
Uno Fundraiser
Idea:
Sarah said the date has been set for
Thursday, June 7 for the fundraiser at the Pizzaria Uno Restaurant in
Keene where 20% of sales go towards fundraising.
Teacher

May 8. Members volunteered the following items for the buffet lunch to
be set up in the teacher lounge:
