Grades 3 & 4 Welcome
to Third and Fourth Grade! Students in grades three and four start
each day with a Responsive Classroom modeled Morning Meeting. From
there we move into our Houghton Mifflin Spelling program as well as our
Handwriting Without Tears cursive handwriting program. After that, we
enjoy a quick snack and move right into our Language Arts curriculum,
which includes Daily Oral Language, reinforcing correct punctuation,
spelling, capitalization and language skills. We also work on our
literature-based Houghton Mifflin Reading program. Third and Fourth
graders receive differentiated instruction in reading. We also intersperse
whole-class trade books as an opportunity to collaborate and work on
in-depth projects. Students practice their writing skills through informal
Personal Journal time and integrating thematic projects. From there,
students attend their daily special in P.E. Music, French, Media, or Art.
