"Trustees of the Trust Funds"  "Cemetery Trustees"

Trustees of Trust Funds / Cemetery Trustees / April 2, 2007

Present:

Cemetery Trustee: Roxanne MacConnell, Lucille Gorges, Gerry Plotts, Mary Blank

Trustee of Trust Fund: Patty Little, Mary Blank, Lucille Gorges

Warrant Articles:

Mary noted that she had transferred funds per vote at the Town Meeting on Articles 8 and 15 with respect to the 200 fire truck and the 2004 defribillator. She had received and deposited checks from the town for the Articles 7 and 11. In terms of the passage of the warrant article for a new ambulance, the proceeds will not be available until the tax bills are mailed out and the property taxes are received in July.

Cemetery Trustees

Gerry Plotts had been appointed to file the two year position as Cemetery Trustees. The fifth position as a Cemetery Trustee with a one-year term is still vacant.

Roxanne confirmed that Rupert was not interested in being the Sexton even with the removal of the mowing and record keeping responsibilities. Mary noted she has been trying to get information regarding the string trimmer so that the Trustees could try and sell it to the Highway Department and reimburse Common Trust #1.

Various other residents were identified as being possible appointees for the Sexton’s position. It was suggested that a fee schedule be developed for interments.

Survey of Village Cemetery:

Patty noted that in developing the RFP, the Trustees should have identified how many plots were anticipated to be laid out in the new section. It is difficult to compare the proposals when the fee associated for the platting service is an unknown. Patty questioned whether there was a need to monument the existing lots in the perpetual care section? She indicated that she would request that the City Engineer review the four proposals and offer his opinion. It was suggested that perhaps the platting of the new section should occur before the survey of the older portions to ensure that that portion of the scope of work is accomplished.

It was suggested that perhaps the Trustees should consider a standard in terms of the facing of the headstones in this new section.

Mowing Contract:

Mary noted that she was not able to obtain a 3rd quote for the mowing contract and that based upon the price quote, the contract would be awarded to Vermont Hillside at $5,025.00. A meeting was set for April 9th to meet with a representative of Vermont Hillside. Patty offered to notify Surf and Turf that the contract had been awarded to another firm.

Plaque on Stone - Jim Strickland:

Roxanne informed the Trustees that she had received a request from Jim Strickland to place a plaque on the granite boulder underneath the maple tree where he played as a child. The reaction from the Trustees was that that would be setting a precedent and that Mr. Strickland should purchase a future plot adjacent to the tree.

Respectfully Submitted
