Marlow Planning Board -- March 12, 2008 / Unapproved minutes of meeting

Present: 

Joe Feuer (Chairman), Bob Allen, Lyle Handy, Sr., Bonnie Hazelton, Mark Lanier, and Michael    Puschaver

The meeting was called to order at 7:07. The minutes from February 12, 2008 were read and unanimously approved as typed.

Communications Directed to the Board:

The Planning Board received an invitation to a presentation in Keene on “Consequences of Land Use Policy.” Mr. Lanier expressed an interest in attending.

Reports from Committees/Officials:

None

Unfinished Business:

Mr. Feuer confirmed that our amendment on commercial wind farms and telecommunication towers had passed on 03/11/08. He suggested that the ZBA may want to meet to discuss the development of criteria concerning commercial wind farms and telecommunication towers.

Other Business:

• The planning board discussed the warrant article raising the cost of a building permit from $6 to $65. Mr. Feuer referred to RSA 675.3 II, regarding the procedure for amending zoning ordinances. The law requires the planning board to hold a public hearing first. Mr. Allen stated that he was under the impression that since it was a fee increase, the Selectmen could present it as a warrant article. Discussion followed and it was determined that the warrant would be dropped from this years town meeting. And the Planning Board would address the issue utilizing the correct procedure.

• In addition to the increase in building permit cost, the Planning Board determined that we would also address another change to the zoning ordinances -- Change the requirement for a building permit from a dollar amount to a square footage requirement.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Marlow Planning Board will be on Tuesday, April 8, at 7:00 p.m.
