Marlow Planning Board -- April 10, 2007 Unapproved minutes of meeting

Present: Joe Feuer (Chairman), Bob Allen (representative from Selectmen), Lyle Handy, Sr., Bonnie Hazelton, Mark Lanier, and Michael Puschaver

Absent: Carla Kirsh

The meeting was called to order at 7:12. The minutes from February 13, 2007 were read and unanimously approved as typed.

Joe Feuer was voted in unanimously at the Chairman of the Planning Board. He then introduced Mark Lanier, the new Building Inspector for Marlow, newly appointed by the Marlow Selectmen.

Communications Directed to the Board:

None

Reports from Committees/Officials:

Mr. Allen discussed the latest developments with the cell tower slated to be built on Marlow Hill. He suggested that the Marlow Planning Board review policies from other towns in regard to cell towers. He intends to bring those policies he’s collected to the next meeting.

Unfinished Business:

Mr. Feuer presented drafts of definitions and ordinances related to the limitation of large scale residential development. A short discussion followed.

Other Business:

Misha Golfman and Craig Oshkello were present to discuss Mr. Golfman’s plans to move his camp, KROKA EXPEDITIONS, from its present location in Putney, Vermont to the property he’s purchased on Route 123 in Marlow. He showed the board the planned layout of the camp, including the house that is presently on the property -- to be used for his family’s home and the office -- and the proposed base camp, shelters, cropland and parking area. The board determined that the property is in the R-10 district, which allows for “boarding schools or boarding camps.” Mr. Golfman has contacted all abutting property owners as well as state and local officials who will be involved with camp. He described the programs he will run throughout the year -- similar to the programs he’s developed in the 12 years he’s managed the camp in Vermont. The move will take place gradually over the next year.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Marlow Planning Board will be on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
