SECRETARY'S REPORT:

The minutes of the previous meeting of 5/5/08 were read. Joyce Lanier moved and Faith Conley seconded that the minutes be accepted into record without correction.

TREASURER'S REPORT:

The Treasurer's Report was not available, we are still transitioning to our new treasurer. The Library checking account has been updated with new signatures and pending bills have been paid. Discussion followed on paying bills before transfer of Town funds. It is okay to expend funds for operating expenses and previously approved expenditures before the transfer of funds.

Services of the Library

We need to check if NHAIS is still current, otherwise okay as written.

Buildings and Personnel

Changed as follows: The Librarian and Assistant Librarians will be considered part-time town employees.

Deleted 5 & 6; covered under Library Use.

 Book Selection

Sections 1-5 okay as written.

 Discussion followed as to process for removal of materials no longer useful. Suggestions included volunteers help during National Library Week.

NEW BUSINESS:

New Computers/Internet Service

It was decided to wait on installing satellite service in the hopes of DSL service being brought to Marlow by Fairpoint in the near future. Tabled for now, we will address this when the new computers are installed.

New Trustees were updated on the impending purchase of computers and discussion followed on safeguards needed to protect against spam and illegal or inappropriate computer use.

We will contact Paul LaFreniere for assistance in purchasing the computers. There is $1500 in the budget for this purpose.
