May 5, 2008 Marlow Library Minutes

Roll Call:

Present at meeting: Trustees Joyce Lanier, Alice Scharf, Kate MCNally, Sue Berge and Librarian Pat Strickland.

Motion made by Joyce Lanier, seconded by Sue Berge to accept the minutes of the April 2008 Meeting as written. Passed.

Treasurer’s Report:

Joyce Lanier gave a very brief treasurer’s report as we have not appointed a new treasurer to replace Donna Chase. We need to get a final report from Donna Chase. 

Old Business:

Our new trustee Kathleen “Kate” McNally was welcomed to the Board.

1. Motion was made by Joyce Lanier and seconded by Sue Berge to appoint Kate McNally as the new treasurer. Approved unanimously.

2. A motion was made by Joyce Lanier and seconded by Alice Scharf to give Kate McNally signature power for the Library checkbook. Passed unanimously.

New Business:

A motion was made and seconded to revisit the By-Laws.

• Displays, Exhibits and Gifts

• It decided no changes were necessary.

The proposal to send books to the Perkins School was well received.

Information on the New Trustee Orientation Seminar was given.

Email addresses were updated.

The summer library reading program was discussed. This year’s theme is Australia. Berge made a suggestion we refer to the library as Down Under, since it is under the Town Hall, to go with Aussie theme. Pat Strickland shared with us some of the donated items for the reading program and discussed the ideas she and the assistant librarians had for the program.
