The Board of Trustees
for the Marlow Town Library met on January 8, 2007 at 7 p.m.
Present at the Library were:
Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase,
Treasurer; Joyce Lanier, Secretary; Alice Scharf, Trustee; Patricia
Strickland, Librarian; and Faith Conley, Trustee.
Secretary’s Report:
The minutes of the December meeting were
read. Jeanne Kennedy moved that the minutes be accepted into the record
without correction or addition. Donna Chase seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Donna Chase reported that the
beginning balance as of November 31st of the Business Account was
$9,069.64. With $1720.81 expended and a deposit of $18.02 this left a balance
of $7,366.85 as of December 31, 2007. Donna said that she paid off the copy
machine and gave a check to the town for Art’s payment of $144 for 8 hours
of work on the computers. Discussion was on Pat needing more hours in the
budget to organize and order books. The trustees will put more time in the new
budget for Pat to add more hours. Motion: Jeanne Kennedy: to accept into the
record the Treasurer’s report without correction or addition. Joyce Lanier
seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
New Business:
Budget for 2008: The proposed 2008 budget
was discussed. All line items were discussed and decided except the Technology
line item. More investigating needs to be done as the trustees want to obtain
high speed internet for the computers and Jeanne will ask the town about using
their access if possible. Pat will ask the Assistant Librarians if they would
like to help with cataloging all the books in the library (adding a couple of
hours a week to their time). The trustees decided to discuss the final amounts
of the budget via e-mail before the next meeting. Discussion concluded with
the upcoming event to honor Sandra Cunningham and Margaret Wyman, longtime
teachers at the Perkins School. Motion: Jeanne Kennedy: to encumber $450 from
2007 Program line item to use to co-sponsor a program honoring Sandra
Cunningham and Margaret Wyman in conjunction with the Perkins School. Donna
Chase seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
