The Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on September 10, 2007 at 7 p.m.

Present at the Library were:  Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase, Treasurer; Joyce Lanier, Secretary; Alice Scharf, Trustee; Patricia Strickland, Librarian; and Faith Conley, Trustee. 

Secretary’s Report:

The minutes of the previous meeting, June 4th were read.  Jeanne Kennedy moved that the minutes be accepted into the record without correction or addition.  Donna Chase seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer Donna Chase reported that the beginning balance in May of the Business Account was $12,683.50.  With $1,681.11 expended, this left a balance of $11,002.39 as of August 31, 2007.  Discussion was then on the Technology line item which is for the copy machine.  Trustees will look for a used one to be donated to the Library.

Old Business:

1. Alice Sharf purchased the Sears Kenmore Progressive Vacuum cleaner.

2. Trustee:  Faith Conley has agreed to be a Library Trustee which fills the last remaining opening on the board.  She was sworn at the Town Hall earlier in the evening.

3. Summer Reading Program:  Patricia Strickland reported that the program went over very well with the children.  The kids had fun and were encouraged to read chapters of their books by winning matchbox cars as prizes.  Thanks to Brick Farms in Unity who supplied ice cream cones for all the participants.

New Business:

1. Harvest Festival and Christmas on the Pond:  After discussion, the trustees decided not to participate in these events as this time.

Other:

New Library at the School:  Discussion was on the collaboration of the school and library to continue to utilize the library in town as a very valuable asset in the children’s learning experience.
