The Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on January
9, 2007 at 7 PM.
Present at the Library were: Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna
Chase, Treasurer; Jan Lane, Secretary; and Alice Scharf. Absent from the meeting
was Johanna Kent, Art Director; and Librarian Pat Strickland.
Secretary’s Report:
The minutes of the previous meeting, December 4, 2006, were read.
Donna Chase moved that the minutes be accepted into the record without
correction or addition. Jeanne Kennedy seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Donna Chase reported that the
balance in the Business Account is $3,743.30 as of December 31, 2006. Of the
Town Allotment, $20.66 is left at year-end.
Old Business:

Last month, Donna Chase moved, and Jeanne Kennedy seconded a
recommendation for Art Andreason to purchase, for the Library, a computer
for approximately $600 to replace the Librarian’s computer. The motion had
passed. Art came to the January meeting to announce that he had purchased a
computer, including an internal modem, for $568. 35. He also discussed
suggestions for the future in regards to computers. The Trustees are
grateful for Art’s prompt and very satisfactory service and suggestions.
New Business:

Johanna
Kent resigned as Trustee.

Trustees reviewed two applications for Assistant Librarian to
job-share with Assistant Librarian Jen Brown. Jeanne Kennedy moved, and Donna Chase seconded the
motion that the position be filled by Johanna Kent. Motion passed
unanimously.

Trustees discussed the need to develop a pool of substitute
Librarians.

Donna Chase recommended that the Keene High School Optional Summer
Reading List be encouraged and promoted by the Library. Trustees in
agreement.

Donna Chase, reporting for Johanna Kent, stated that there has been
positive, recent interest in the Pre School Lending Library which is
currently being housed in, and promoted by, the Library.
