The
Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on November 6, 2006 at 7
PM.
Present
at the Library were: Jeanne
Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase, Treasurer; Jan Lane, Secretary; Johanna Kent, Art
Director; Alice Scharf, and Librarian Pat Strickland.
Secretary’s
Report:
The
minutes of the previous meeting, September 1, 2006, were read. (The meeting for
October had been canceled). After some discussion, it was decided that the
trustees had not vetoed with finality the housing of the Pre School Lending
Library. It was decided that the Library will set up a temporary display to
promote the Pre School Lending Library for the school. With this correction (to
New Business #6), Jeanne Kennedy moved that the minutes be accepted into the
record. Donna Chase seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s
Report:
Treasurer
Donna Chase reported that the balance in the Business Account is $8013.25 as of
October 31, 2006.
Old
Business:
- Jeanne
Kennedy announced that she will be posting, about town, a notice for the
procuring of an Assistant Librarian to replace the position vacated recently
by Shelli Silk-Huntley.
New
Business:
- Pat
Strickland reported that Sandy Cunningham has most graciously volunteered to
mail out
overdue notices to library patrons.
- Johanna
Kent presented the Library with Audrey Benson’s 1976 Bicentennial
Scrapbook that
was donated to the Library by Lois Ann Foster.
- Jeanne
Kennedy donated two small bookcases to be used for the Library’s on-going
book sale. The
Library will be selling, on a donation-basis, books that have been donated
to the Library that, for various reasons, will not be shelved.
- Pat
Strickland reported that Clay Bradley, of Cross Street, has volunteered to
organize a Chess
Club, as well as to teach the game to others. The Chess Club will meet in
the Library. More information on this will come.
- Joanna
Kent reported on her involvement in the Joint Loss Management Committee.
Trustees spent time answering questions requested by the Selectmen.
