Library Minutes June 2006

The Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on June 5, 2006 at 7 PM.  

Present at the Library were: Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase, Treasurer; Jan Lane, Secretary; Johanna Kent, Art Director; and Librarian Pat Strickland. Alice Scharf was absent from the meeting.

Secretary’s Report:  

The minutes of the previous meeting, May 1, 2006, were read. Jeanne Kennedy moved that they be accepted into the record with the correction ( under Old Business #2) that it is the Librarian, Pat Strickland, not the trustees, who is to be looking into computer software that would simplify the process of placing the library’s inventory on computer for insurance and other purposes. Johanna Kent seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report:   

Treasurer Donna Chase reported that the balance in the Business (Operating) Fund is unchanged at $10,143.43 as of May 31, 2006. The account with Bank of America will be closed sometime this summer due to monthly finance charges. Jan Lane moved, and Johanna Kent seconded the motion, that the account be moved to Connecticut River Bank. The motion passed unanimously.  Johanna Kent moved, and Jan Lane seconded the motion, that Jeanne Kennedy, trustee chair, and Donna Chase, treasurer, facilitate the moving of the account, as well as to act as designated signatures of such account. The motion passed unanimously.

Old Business:                                                           

  1. Jeanne Kennedy made a call to the Keene Sentinel to resolve the problem of the newspaper not being delivered on a daily basis.

  2. No progress was made on updating the card file/inventory to a computerized version.

  3. Updating the Library Policies was tabled until September.

New Business:

  1. Donna Chase reported the younger reading group, for children ages 3-8, will definitely be forming.

  2. The date for the summer reading program will be announced at a later time. Children involved in the program should look for an announcement posted in the library.
