The
Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on February 6, 2006, at 7 PM.
Present at
the Library were:
Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase, Treasurer; Jan
Lane, Secretary; Jeannie Merwin, Clerk of the Works, and Librarian Pat
Strickland. Absent from the meeting was Johanna Kent, Art Director.
Secretary’s
Report:
There
were no official minutes taken of the previous meeting (09 Jan 06) as Secretary
Jan Lane was absent from the meeting.
Treasurer’s
Report:
Treasurer
Donna Chase reported that the balance in the Business (Operating) Fund is:
$3,713.73 as of January 31, 2006.
Old
Business:
-
The Historical Society will be hosting the Town Lunch (during Town Meeting) this
year as the Library Trustees voted not to host it this year.
New
Business:
-
Trustees
decided not to have a formal Summer Reading Program this year. Reasons for
this include diminishing attendance by children during the summer, as well
as the increasing difficultly of getting adults involved to be in charge of
the various programs.

Trustees
decided to take a break from hosting The Little Red Wagon this year as the
Town needs, for this service, are changing.

Trustees
worked on the budget.

Jeannie
Merwin regretfully announced that she will not be seeking re-election to her
Trustee position. Jeannie’s dedication, loyalty, and untiring work for
library will be missed by the Board of Trustees. Jeannie has been a
passionate advocate for the Marlow Town Library for many years.

Jeanne
Kennedy moved, and Jan Lane seconded the motion to accept gifts to the
Library given this day. The gifts included Curious George and Stuart
Little artwork donated by Jeannie Merwin. The motion passed unanimously.
