Library Minutes June 2005

The Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on June 6, 2005, at 7 PM.

Present at the Library were: Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase, Treasurer; Jan Lane, Secretary; Jeannie Merwin, Clerk of the Works; Johanna Kent, Art Director, and Librarian Pat Strickland.

Secretary’s Report: 

The minutes of the previous meeting (02 May 05) were read and accepted into the record with the following correction: under Old Business #3 - Tony Previte, not Tony Davis, will be checking the Library toilet to find out why it is so problematic.

Treasurer’s Report: 

Treasurer Donna Chase reported that the balance in the Business (Operating) Fund is: $4034.38 as of 5/31/05.

Old Business:

  1. Jeanne Kennedy reported that she is waiting to hear from the Selectmen to find out if the company who services the Town’s new copier machine will fix the Town’s old copier for use in the Library.

  2. Pat Strickland reported that the Library did receive a grant from “Kids, Books, and the Arts”. The Library was not awarded its first choice (Alex the Jester), however, but instead: “Partners in Rhyme”.

  3. Due to time spent organizing the Summer Reading Program, the trustees postponed updating the Library Policies.

New Business:

  1. Jeanne Kennedy announced that she just received word that will be sponsoring an author/illustrator on June 8, presumably at the elementary school.

Little Red Wagon presents Camp Walla Walla Bing Bang in Abbie Werner Patria  Memorial Park (Abbie’s Park) from 6-7 PM

July 11:

Nancy Tomasko presents Smokey the Bear & Camping 3 PM at the Library.

July 21 

TBA

July 28: 

Possible field trip to The Nature Museum in Grafton VT. Leader: Jeanne Kennedy. Call Library for details.

Aug 4: 

Jeannie Merwin and Johanna Kent present making gorp, woods walking, and a story in the woods (“A Story for Bear”) read by Librarian Pat Strickland. 3 PM at the Library. Rain date: Aug 5.

Aug 11: 

Kids, Books, and the Arts present: “Partners in Rhyme” in the Library at 7PM.

Aug 18: 

Award Ceremony and Picnic. 5:30 PM at Abbie’s Park.

8:30 PM

Next Meeting: 

Monday, September 12; 7 PM at the Library.
