Library Minutes April 2005
The Board of Trustees for the Marlow Town Library met on April 4, 2005, at 7 PM.
Present at
the Library were: Jeanne Kennedy, Chair; Donna Chase, Treasurer; Jan
Lane, Secretary; Jeannie Merwin, Clerk of the Works; Johanna Kent, and Librarian
Pat Strickland.
Secretary’s Report:
The minutes of the previous meeting (07 Mar 05) were read and accepted into the record as written without correction or addition.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Donna Chase reported:
Profit from the Town Lunch (selling of refreshments during Town Meeting 2005: $311.60
The balance in the Business (Operating) Fund is:
$4866.79 (includes Town Lunch)
Old Business:
An amendment was passed at Town Meeting allowing the Library to accept non-money donations valued at less than $500 without holding public hearings.
The Selectmen approved the addition of two hours a week for the
Assistant Librarians to use, during non-library hours, to process books.
Pat Strickland held a preliminary demonstration, for the trustees, on book processing. The demonstration showed the steps necessary in getting a book ready for public loan.
Reviewing the Library’s policies in general, and regarding
restroom use during non-library hours in specific, was tabled for another
time.
Jeanne Kennedy will call Dave Galluccio for advice in purchasing a
new copier.
Jeannie Merwin inquired as to whether there had been a reply from
the Selectmen re: Fire Report on Safety Issues of Jones Hall/Library. Jeanne
Kennedy reported that there has been no response from the Board of
Selectmen. She had given the
report to former chairman, Alan Blank, who is no longer on the Board.
New Business:
Trustee held an election of officers resulting in Chair: Jeanne Kennedy, Treasurer: Donna Chase, Secretary: Jan Lane, Clerk of the Works: Jeannie Merwin, and Art Director: Johanna Kent.
Jeannie Merwin and Johanna Kent will be taking pictures of the
library‘s assets for insurance purposes.
Pat Strickland received, in the mail, an application for a possible
field trip to the Water Museum in Grafton, VT.
Pat Strickland also received an application for a grant from
“Kids, Books, and the Arts“. Last year this grant provided $300 toward a
puppeteer during the summer reading program.
This year‘s summer reading program will be “Camp Wannaread”.
