Marlow Historical Society Minutes & Reports

November 2006

Executive Board Meeting / Marlow Historical Society / Nov. 7, 2006; 7:00 PM

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM. Candy Wiggum, Mary Blank, and Loisanne Foster were present.

Loisanne read the Secretary’s Report which was accepted as read. Mary read the Treasurer’s report for Art Schmid. She fielded questions about it, and it was also accepted as read.

Old Business:

We laid plans and a work schedule for Christmas on the Pond, Nov. 18. We have obtained permission from Marek Bennett to use his T-shirt Marlow Village design for Christmas note cards. For shirt sales, we will sell what we have and take orders in custom colors to be delivered before Christmas. We made plans to set up the Christmas window candles for Jones Hall, the Grange, and the Chapel.

Loisanne reported on the Marlow Bride’s Album Quilt Conservation Project. We decided to use $50.00 of the Giffin $300.00 contribution toward the project which brings our fund for it to $120.00, a little less than half of what we will need. We hope to ask Kathy Harvey to begin the conservation work in January of 2007.

Just to remind ourselves, Loisanne passed out a list of MHS accomplishments for 2006. It’s impressive what a few dedicated people can accomplish - with the help of the community!

New Business:

We discussed the Christmas Program to be held Dec. 2, 4:00 PM at Jones Hall followed by a Potluck Supper.

Jonathan Reinhardt and Kate McNally will participate in the musical portion. Brian Fay is on board to perform as well. Candy will be a reader. We need a child to sing - perhaps “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.” We need child volunteers for sound effects and perhaps to hold up “applause” signs. We had several suggestions as to who could be asked to be the Master of Ceremonies. We need performers, greeters, scenery, props, a “Radio Show Host” (MC) and we need volunteers to help with the IOOF Hall Decorations on Saturday AM.

The meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM.
