Trail 392
11/03/2008

What a beautiful day to work in the woods. Jackie, Ray, Michelle and Christie Boulanger, and Bruce Zapolski worked hard on the First of November to get the skidder bridge replace on trail 392 on the hill. This should make it easier for all of us when the snow flies. Thanks again.

Widen The Bridge On Trail 386
10/25/2008

Bruce Adams, Eric Brown, Alex Chase all worked at the Grass Drags to raise funds for the club. I hope they had as much fun as I had. Last weekend Ryan Strickland, Bruce Zapolski, Ray and Michelle Boulanger all worked to build a new bridge on 386 to replace the broken bridge on Wright lot and to widen the bridge on trail 386 I droved the Track Truck off. Tom and Scott Chase helped me build a new bridge on Salo Lot on Trail 392 over the washout at the bottom of the hill, and  Bruce Adams used a mini excavator to shape up the Wheeler road  trail 384 to make water bars and grade the trail. Thanks to all.

Fix'n the mud hole on trail 386 in Lempster
09/09/2008

On Tuesday, September 9, a hearty bunch of snowmobilers and former snowmobiler started out to fix the mud hole on trail 386 in Lempster. Gus Merwin's dad let us borrow his RTV, Joe Baril with his tractor, Charlie Strickland's gator, Bud Jackson, Kathy Crevier, Eric Brown, Jack Strickland and yours truly all met the rain maker!. We left Marlow with bright sunny skies and hadn't even unloaded on South Road when the drops started. We waited a bit and it let up enough to haul some stone. Some of us stayed dry and some didn't. We laughed a lot but got a lot of stone in the mud hole. We finally had to call it quits before we wrecked the rest of the trail but it is definitely better than when we started! My wallet never dried until Thursday pm. Jim Strickland, Trail Administrator.

Thanks
Posted 11/26/2007

The Hidden Valley Sno-Riders would like to thank the good folks that registered your snowmobiles last year. The money from the registrations allowed us to get a Bureau of Trails Construction grant to replace the bridge over Whittimore Brook on Trail 393 in Marlow. That grant bought all the materials but it takes a lot of labor and donated equipment to complete the task. Thanks go to Bruce Warren, Gus Merwin, Jack Strickland, David Collard, and Gregg Hopkins for removing the old beaver dam built out of our bridge. Scott Taylor, Gus Merwin, David Howard, Scott Chase, Ryan and Charlie Strickland all helped build the new bridge. Hope you like what we did. See you on the Trails.

Jim Strickland, Marlow Trailmaster

August 15, 2008

Greetings Snowmobilers.

We have begun getting ready for another Snowmobiling season. Work has begun on trail upgrades and new groomer purchase is under way. Last year we completed the process of registering with the IRS as a Tax exempt organization to help assure the continuation of our club. The high cost of fuel will make this a very challenging year.  We are planning on continuing with the annual Easter Seal Dinner and The Don Landroche memorial cookout. Some of us are planning on riding to the NHSA Ride-In at the Balsam’s in February.

A lot of work is required year round to secure and maintain our trail system. Please contact our Lempster Trail Master, David Howard, 863 1035 or Marlow Trailmaster, Jim Strickland, 446 7566 if you can help.

Our club has sponsored the NH Fish and Game Snowmobile Safety Course in the past. If anyone is interested in becoming an instructor and running this course, please contact me at 446 7751.

You can find a lot of club info on our web site, http://www.marlow-nh.org/Clubs_Organizations/HiddenValleySnoRiders/hvmainpage.htm, so please check it often.

The club cannot function without funds. The insurance for club activities and grooming equipment is now over $2000 a year. One of our biggest fund-raisers is working at the NHSA Grass Drags in October. The club gets $10 an hour for your time. Contact Jim Strickland if you can help.

The dues remain the same as last year, $20. Attached is the 2008-2009-membership application. Please return it as soon as possible.

Regards

Gus Merwin
President
